ITINERARIES ON LAKE COMO

The area of lake Como presents an extremely varied natural environment that creates landscapes of extraordinary beauty, as valuable to local tourism as the artistic monuments and history.
Lake Como is an ideal location for relaxing, cultural or active holidays, suitable for all ages and enjoyable in every season.

Visiting lake Como means, above all, being keen on making unusual discoveries, pursuing unique interests, looking at the landscape and environment with the eyes of those who don’t settle for clichés and banalities.
This territory offers a lot in a little space and its itineraries intersect and offer each time a different perspective depending on the point of view, or even just on the means of transport.

EXAMPLE OF ITINERARY

First stop: Como – visit of the old town centre and Villa Olmo

The first stop in the exploration of the city is the Cathedral of Como, followed by a visit of the Teatro Sociale. From there, proceed on foot to Piazza San Fedele, a city within the city, where the old wheat market was hosted. In between the Romanesque Basilica and the Renaissance houses with their exposed wooden structure there lies a lively and busy pedestrian area. Also within walking distance is the Basilica di Sant’Abbondio, a Romanesque masterpiece shaded by its two twin bell towers. Walking back towards the lake shores, you can’t miss the Volta Temple and, from there, start the exquisite walk along the Chilometro della Conoscenza (“Kilometre of Knowledge”). This is a pedestrian itinerary of rare beauty that represents the perfect balance between art and nature.

Second Stop: cruise on the lake – about 2 hours to reach Bellagio
Third Stop: Bellagio – visit of the city centre and free time

Bellagio, located right at the ramification of Lake Como, enchants any visitor with Villa Melzi, a nineteenth-century residence designed by Giocondo Albertolli and surrounded by the English gardens that conquered the hearts of Liszt and Stendhal. The park of Villa Serbelloni is also open to the public through guided tours, and offers a view of the three branches of the lake.

Return journey to Milan – about 1 hour
